The recent attacks perpetrated by FARC dissidents have hit both the Military Forces deployed for the defense and protection of communities, but also civilians who have in the same way been victims of this cowardly practice, as happened in El Plateado, Cauca.
With the aim of conducting in the modernization of the different tools that led the troops to work to raise the security, defense and protection of civilians, General Helder Fernan Giraldo Bonilla, Commander of the Military Forces announced that the logistical and administrative procedures for the procurement of Anti-Drone Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS) are already in progress.
The high official confirmed that these equipment will be used to prevent, detect, identify, and neutralize drones used by outlaw groups in operations that threaten civilians, critical constructions, troops and military installations.
For this purpose, the necessary economic resources have been authorized to obtain the first shipment of these systems which will be strategically distributed in military units in different points of the national geography. A staff of the institution will be trained in its management, which will neutralize this threat posed by terrorists and their criminal operations.
The General Commander of the Military Forces, assured that, with a team of experts in unmanned aircraft, in aviation and in anti-explosives, protocols are being designed, whose implementation will serve to prevent illegal groups from carrying out terrorist operations with the use of drones, especially those acts by members of the so-called Central Staff of the FARC dissidents.
