In 2023, the Humanitarian Demining Battalion No.4, will begin demining work in Carurú, a territory where 81 events with explosive devices have been identified in the frame of the armed conflict.
With an informal meeting conducted by the Deputy Representative of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Colombia, Montserrat Solano Carboni, who said: “It is essential to facilitate and ensure an active, effective participation of ethno-territorial authorities, leaders and communities, who know (about) the territory and have important recommendations, needs and proposals that deserve to be heard, so that the State's action is effective,” the meeting conducted by Governors, Mayors and different authorities of the territory began.
Brigadier General Miller Vladimir Nossa Rojas spoke about the Army's interest in the unrestricted respect and observance of human rights.
At the facilities of the Fourth Division in Villavicencio, Meta, the officer showed his interest in seeking to present the institutional control of the State in the regions, through the Perseo Plan, that accompanied by civil authorities, which brought together 27 mayors, a governor, the regional prosecutor and the departmental comptroller.
As part of this commitment of the Army to the most vulnerable communities, there are currently two productive megaprojects in the department of Meta, which are already doing work in the national and international market. On the other hand, and in compliance with one of the strategic indicators of the Perseo Plan, in order to prevent the weakening of the illegal armed groups and obtain institutional control of the territory, six laboratories for the production of drugs have been destroyed in recent months, finding more than one and a half tons of cocaine hydrochloride and coca paste base, finding 10 hotbeds of coca leaf seedlings and obtaining the eradication of more than 300 hectares of illegal plantations, thus harming the finances of the armed groups, in more than 15,000,000,000 million pesos, attacking, one of the factors of instability, as is drug trafficking, which hits the inhabitants and their resources so hard.
Troops have also made 100 arrests of members of organized armed groups and common criminality, weakening the criminal operations of multicrime actors in an effort to protect life, especially of the most vulnerable communities, in joint, coordinated and inter-institutional operations throughout the national territory.
In the same way, with the use of military Resources, the army contributes to regional development, through activities, projects of military assistance and support to the civil authority, to protect the inhabitants and communities. Thus, in the last two months, the Comprehensive Action soldiers have carried out six activities to support development, thus reaching more than 2,000 people of the most vulnerable communities of the Orinoquia and Colombian Amazon region.
On the other hand, 32 environmental activities, during a period of less than two months, have been carried out in the Amazon Biome, thus recovering 633 hectares, equivalent to about 8,000 forest soccer fields that were deforested by organized armed groups that use indiscriminate logging to expand illegal income such as drug trafficking and extensive livestock farming.
With more than 175,000 trees planted in 2022, the army contributes to the protection of life and the recovery of the nation's biodiversity.
It is in this way, the National Army is projected to fulfill the objectives proposed in the components of human security, within the framework of the unified action of the State and to fulfill the objectives proposed in the components of human security.
