Military forces find and neutralize cocaine hydrochloride production laboratory belonging to the GAO-r “Estructura Franco Benavides”
In less than five days, more than eight tons of narcotics belonging to the organized armed groups have been found in this region of the Pacific region of Nariño.
In compliance with the Bicentenary Campaign Plan Héroes de la Libertad, the Joint Task Force for Stabilization and Consolidation Hercules, in a joint military operation conducted by the National Army, the Colombian Navy and inter-institutional with the Attorney General's Office, managed to find and destroy an illegal laboratory for the production of cocaine hydrochloride in the municipality of La Pampa, municipality of Mosquera department of Nariño.
In the operation, six constructions belonging to the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Franco Benavides, were dismantled, where the different phases of the production of coca base paste and cocaine hydrochloride, as well as its pressing and packaging, were conducted.
This decisive heavy blow was carried out by troops of the National Army's Command against Drug Trafficking and Transnational Threats, Navy Infantry Brigade No.4, intelligence of the Colombian Navy and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office. Within this complex, were found by troops 3,820 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride, 580 kilograms of solid precursors, 680 gallons of liquid precursors, machinery, equipment and other elements used to achieve the narcotic.
This drug trafficking structure had the capacity to produce 6,000 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride monthly; with its destruction, the Colombian Military forces hit by more than four million dollars the finances of Farc dissidents who commit crimes in the south Pacific region of Nariño. In the same way, it prevented the monthly circulation of more than 10 million doses of the drug in the illegal international market and mitigated the contamination of natural resources in jungle areas of Tumaco.
The six illegal structures, drugs and supplies were destroyed in controlled conditions, on the scene, by navy men belonging to the Explosives and Demolitions team (EXDE), under strict safety standards and preserving all measures for the preservation of the environment.
With this result, the financial structure of this criminal organization, responsible for homicides, criminal acts and clashes with other structures of drug trafficking, will be hit.
