Units of the Colombian Navy, in joint operations with the National Army and coordinated with the National Police, in a rural area of the Buenaventura district, arrest three individuals, recover two minors of age and find explosives that would be used to attack the units of the Naval Institution that conduct operations on the Cajambre and Raposo rivers.
The first operation was carried out in the sectors Zacarías, Zabaletas, Aguas Claras, Limones and Llano Bajo, rural area of Buenaventura, where it was possible to arrest an 18-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, alleged members of the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Structure 6 Jaime Martínez; It was also possible to recover two minors.
During the searches, a carbine rifle, a magazine, five handcrafted rockets composed of pentolite explosive, detonating cord, ammonium nitrate, aluminum powder, an electric initiation system, an impact activation system, a rudimentary mortar, a rudimentary grenade, three shotguns, a pistol, six pistol magazines, four hand grenades, two pixelated uniforms and two bracelets alluding to FARC-EP were seized. These explosive elements would be used against the units of the Navy of Colombia.
The second operation was carried out over the waters of the Raposo River in the Bello Horizonte sector, in the rural area of Buenaventura, where alias Ever, who was in charge of the finances of that group, was arrested. A rifle, two grenade launchers, two magazines and military accessories were in the same way seized.
The individuals arrested and the material found were put into custody of the authorities for the possible crimes of manufacturing, trafficking, carrying or possessing firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition; in the same way, the minors recovered were handed over to the Police for Children and Adolescents.
With these results, the criminal interference of the GAO-residual structure 6 “Jaime Martínez” in the rural area of the district of Buenaventura, as well as its capacity to coerce civilians and ethnic communities living in the region, receive a decisive blow.
