A joint operation conducted by the National Army, the Colombian Air Force, and inter-agency with the Attorney General's Office led to a blunt blow to the Southern Cordillera substructure of the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo.
Troops of the Third Division of the National Army, the Deployment Force Against Transnational Threats, The Air Assault Division and the drug trafficking brigade destroyed a megalaboratory for production cocaine hydrochloride in the municipality of El Palmar, municipality of Leiva, in the department of Nariño. The Colombian Air Force and the Attorney General's office in the same way participated in this operation.
The laboratory had 10 rustic structures, which contained 1.2 tons of cocaine hydrochloride and 800 kilograms of cocaine in liquid form, 20 microwave ovens, 10 condensers, a power generator, 4 “Martians”, 2 high-temperature drying ovens, a press, 20 circuit boxes, a compressor, 2,400 rolls of brown-colored tape, 1,200 latex bags, 1,000 light bulbs, a welder and 400 meters of filter cloth; in addition, 3,750 kilograms of solid precursors and 2,100 gallons of liquid precursors.
This complex would have the capacity to produce about five tons per week of narcotics, which would cost 10,367,719,600 million pesos, money they would use to acquire short-and long-range weapons, in order to attack the Military Forces and communities.
It should be noted that this year, the Third Division has found 41 tons of marijuana and 6 tons of cocaine in the Colombian southwest.
