During the course of this year, 2,622 anti-personnel mines have been found in the departments of Meta, Caquetá and Guaviare.
Within the framework of stability tasks framed in the Ayacucho Joint Strategic Campaign Plan -Tiempo2-, in the village of La Victoria, rural area of the municipality of Puerto Rico, Meta, the Military Forces found an illegal hiding place with explosive devices, which were ready to be used in terrorist operations.
After carrying out the respective review with the trained dog and identifying the place, the group of anti-explosive technicians of the Omega Joint Task Force, and adopting all the security protocols arranged for this kind of situations, found 20 anti-personnel mines in a plastic container and underground.
Approximately 100 meters of detonating cord and 10 meters of two wire cable were in the same way found in this same place, with which they would install these explosive devices, apparently belonging to the Marco Aurelio Buendía group, of the Jorge Suárez Briceño structure.
With the finding of this material, the Military Forces neutralize the criminal operations of this structure that attacks the life, good physical condition and dignity of the inhabitants and the Military Forces that are conducting stability work for the security and well-being of this region are stopped.
After destroying this material, in controlled conditions, the Omega Joint Task Force filed the respective denunciations with the authorities for an act that violates the norms contained in International Humanitarian Law.
In the area, the Military Forces strengthened the number of units in the south of the Meta department, with the aim of strengthening security and protecting the inhabitants who live in this area.
