More than 850 men and women who make up the Specific Command of San Andrés and Providencia are in permanent preparation to ensure the safety of the inhabitants of the Island and raizal.
The Caribbean Naval Force, through its resources, is available to deploy its units of the city of Cartagena if necessary.
The active participation of the Naval Institution in the different Unified Command Checkpoints and Risk Management Committees seeks the coordination of efforts, resources and logistics for the assistance of the possible emergency.
The Specific Command of San Andrés and Providencia, is in maximum preparation to ensure the safety of the inhabitants of the department of the Archipelago, before the special communiqué No. 005 issued this Thursday, November 14, by the Technical Warning Board for Tropical Cyclones, which indicates the formation of a tropical depression that will become a possible tropical storm in the coming hours.
The Colombian Navy has set up a surface unit, the Independiente ARC frigate, to carry out constant monitoring in the area. In the same way, units of the Navy Infantry Battalion No. 11, the Coast Guard Station of San Andrés, the Caribbean Air Group and Colombian National Army component in this area of the country, are ready to work to increase the security of the inhabitants in case of any event.
It should be clarified that, this depression and potential tropical storm in the Caribbean Sea, will cause thunderstorms which can generate heavy winds and increase in the height of the waves, damaging maritime activity.
At the moment, the insular area is on orange alert, therefore, the institutions that are part of the National Risk Management System are constantly active in protocols, contingency plans and follow-up operations in the event of the possible formation of a tropical storm.
The Military Forces in the department of the Archipelago reaffirm their commitment to the community, making their resources and human talent available to deal with any emergency that may arise in the coming days. They in the same way call on the inhabitants to stay informed about the evolution of this event through official pages, following the recommendations issued by the National Maritime Authority.
