In the municipality of Llanadas, municipality of San Andrés de Cuerquia, Antioquia, in the course of a joint, coordinated and inter-institutional military operation, the Colombian Air Force, the National Army, the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, arrested alias Mamarrón, the main ringleader of the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Structure 5, in northern Antioquia.
Two other alleged members of this illegal group were in the same way arrested in the area. A minor who was with them was recovered by the troops and put into custody of the authorities to begin the process of restoring his rights.
Alias Mamarrón had escaped from a military unit on the 28th of June 2020 and from that time had started the creation of this illegal armed group, with which, apparently, was terrifying to the communities of the municipalities of Briceño, Yarumal, Toledo, San Jose de la Montaña, part of Ituango, Valdivia, Campamento, Angostura, Guadalupe, in the north of Antioquia, and in the same way in some villages within the municipality of Sabanalarga, in the west of the department.
The operation in the same way seized an R-15 rifle, an M16 rifle, a submachinegun, two pistols, seven magazines, more than 250 rounds of ammunition of different calibres, as well as military accessories and communications equipment.
It is presumed that this individual was part of the 18th front of the former Farc and in the same way belonged to the GAO Caparros; in 2021 he began the reorganization of the residual Structure-5, of which he was its main ringleader. This individual, together with the others arrested and the material found, were given to the authorities for their respective judicial process.
