In two operations against drug trafficking, the Colombian Navy achieved the finding of 930 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride in the department of Magdalena, dealing a blow of 31 million dollars to criminal organizations that commit crimes in the Colombian Caribbean.
The first result was possible thanks to the operation of the crew of the Coast Guard Station of Barranquilla, in a joint operation with the National Army and the Colombian Air Force, who found three illegal hiding places in the rural area of Sitio Nuevo (Magdalena).
After a thorough search of the area, 29 sacks with 864 rectangular packages were found by troops hidden underground, which after conducting the Approved Preliminary Identification Test, left positive result for 907 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
In the second operation, crews of the Santa Marta Coast Guard Station conducted an inspection of a petroleum tanker-type ship, which was 63 nautical miles northeast of Santa Marta, Magdalena.
At the time of the review, a stowaway was found in one of the lifeboats, transporting a sack with 23 rectangular packages, which contained a substance that was analyzed establishing that it was 23 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride. The individual of Colombian nationality and the material found were put into custody of the authorities.
It is estimated that with the finding of these illegal goods the Caribbean Naval Force prevented the distribution of 2.3 million doses of cocaine on the international illegal market.
