With this result, terrorist operations against civilians and Military Forces in this area of the country are prevented.
Thanks to military intelligence efforts, troops of the National Army, in a joint, coordinated and inter-institutional manner with the Colombian Navy, the Colombian Air Force, the Police and the Prosecutor's Office, found an illegal hideout containing a powerful war arsenal and military accessories, which apparently belonged to the Organized Armed Group, GAO, ELN.
The members of the security forces arrived at the town of Tres Palmas, a rural area of the municipality of Arauquita, Arauca. In the search in the site, two 7.62 mm machineguns, a 7.62 mm Fal rifle, 2 pistols, a shotgun, several rifle magazines and more than 20,000 units of ammunition of different calibers were found by troops. At the site were in the same way found more than 1,000 nonelectric detonators, about 400 electric detonators, 6 activation systems by remote control, 10 remote controls for activation, 5 kilograms of black powder, 1,000 meters of detonating cord and more than 4,000 of electrical phosphorus that can be used to initiate explosive charges. With this explosive material, the terrorists of the GAO ELN intended to equip at least six vehicles with explosives, with the criminal objective of attacking civilians and Military Forces in the department of Arauca.
The military accessories include several camouflage uniforms of the Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB), different black sweatshirts, 59 pixelated assault bags, pixelated camouflage fabric, backpacks, multipurpose vests, armbands of that terrorist group and hammocks.
During the site inspection, 28 packages containing 17 kilograms of pressed marijuana were in the same way found.
The material was put into custody of the authorities.
With this important result, the National Army continues to damage the logistic and criminal networks of the GAO ELN. In the area, joint, coordinated and inter-institutional military operations continue to be carried out to prevent criminal attacks against civilians, Military Forces and the strategic infrastructure of the State, thus reaffirming the commitment to the security and well-being of the department of Arauca.
