3.2 tons of marijuana and 606 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride were found by troops during three operations on the Pacific coast.
This year the Colombian Navy has found more than 134 tons of cocaine and 45 tons of marijuana on the Pacific coast, damaging the finances of criminal organizations by more than 4.7 billion dollars.
More than three tons of marijuana and 606 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride were found by troops by units of the Colombian Navy during three joint and inter-institutional operations with the National Army and the Attorney General's Office in the Colombian Pacific.
In a rapid and effective deployment by troops of the Colombian Navy and the National Army, an illegal hideout was found in the sector of Punta Ají, rural area of Buenaventura – Valle del Cauca to where members of the Military Forces arrived guided by intelligence information, during the inspection 41 sacks and 20 packages sealed with a vegetable substance inside that apparently belonged to the Organized Armed Group Residual Structure Sixth, Jaime Martinez Mobile Column, of the FARC dissidents were found by troops.
The material was taken to the Buenaventura Coast Guard Station, where officials of the Technical Investigation Corps - CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office, conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test - PIPH, leaving positive result for 1,558 kilograms of marijuana. No arrests were made during this operation.
Later, in the Central Pacific, a ship of the Colombian Navy detected a suspicious ship that was traveling at sea at high speed, so a Rapid Reaction Unit of the Buenaventura Coast Guard Station was conducted and after a maritime pursuit it was possible to intercept the boat manned by two individuals.
When carrying out the inspection, a double bottom was found inside the boat where 281 rectangular packages of illicit substances were hidden, in addition to 15 barrels with 18 gallons of fuel.
After the review, the boat was transferred, along with the individuals and the material, to the dock of the Buenaventura Coast Guard Station where CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) personnel conducted the PIPH test on the 281 packages, which left positive result for 149 kilograms of marijuana and 132 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
In the third operation, in the same sector, a ship was detected on which a maritime interception procedure was carried out; it was manned by three men. During the inspection, 1,502 rectangular packages of marijuana and 468 rectangular packages of cocaine were found by troops, which left positive result for 1,503 kilograms of marijuana and 474 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
