This becomes the largest finding of cocaine hydrochloride made by the Military Forces in the Archipelago department.
The operation was carried out jointly by the Colombian Navy and the Colombian Air Force, and combined with the United States Southern Command.
Units of the Colombian Navy and the Colombian Air Force with support of the United States, reported the finding of about 3.4 tons of cocaine hydrochloride, which were transported to Central America in a Go Fast type ship.
This important result took place thanks to a complete synergy conducted by aircraft of the Colombian Navy and the Colombian Air Force, with the support of an air platform of the United States Southern Command; who reported identifying and following in detail a suspicious boat, sailing in the Caribbean Sea.
Once the full location of the boat was confirmed and after a chase for several miles with naval means of the Colombian Navy, a rapid reaction unit of the Coast Guard Station of San Andr茅s reported the interception of the boat 121 nautical miles from the coasts of the Archipelago.
The boat, which was manned by five individuals, three Nicaraguan nationals and two Costa Ricans, was immobilized and taken to the dock of the San Andr茅s Coast Guard Station. When checking the inside of the ship, the crew of the Naval Institution found 3,287 rectangular packages inside 132 sacks.
Subsequently, and in coordination with units of the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) of the Attorney General's Office, the Identification Test was carried out, with a positive result for 3,382 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
On Friday, the five individuals and the immobilized boat were put into custody of officials of the Attorney General's Office.
