In a joint operation carried out in the Colombian Pacific by troops of the Army, Navy and coordinated with the Antinarcotics Directorate of the National Police, the Heroes of the Bicentenary intercepted in Colombian territorial waters two Flipper-type boats with modifications that were detected by the authorities. These modifications contained 1,213 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride valued at more than 5,800 million pesos and that would be commercialized in Central America.
In the framework of the Bicentenary Plan and in development of the Military and Police Campaign 'Esparta', the military intercepted the two boats in the area of Candelilla de la Mar, department of Nariño, with seven crew members on board, four of Ecuadorian nationality and three of Colombian nationality, in the operation 'Absalón'.
During this operation carried out late at night, Black Hawk surveillance helicopters were used. Troops also found 500 gallons of gasoline (intended to be used for the transport of the drug) by approximately 4,500,000 pesos, state-of-the-art satellite telephones, GPS equipment valued at approximately three million pesos, and two 75 hp outboard motors valued at eight million pesos.
