The complex had the capacity to produce four tons of cocaine per month.
A decisive blow to the finances of the residual Organized Armed Group Bloque Occidental Alfonso Cano was made. In a joint and interagency operation conducted by the Colombian Navy, the National Army and the Attorney General's Office, a gigantic complex for the production of cocaine was found in which two tons of narcotic drugs were found by troops in the Curay river, in Tumaco (Nariño).
According to military intelligence information and with a court order issued by the Attorney’s Office, units of the Navy Infantry Battalion No. 40, attached to the Joint Stabilization and Consolidation Task Force Hercules, troops of the Anti-Drug Trafficking Battalion No. 4 and members of the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) Technical Investigation Corps were deployed in the general area of the Curay River, where the complex made up of eight structures for the production of cocaine hydrochloride.
At the site, 2,026 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride were found, ready to be packed and illegally trafficked to Central American countries, and 904 kilos of coca base paste. In the same way, more than a ton of solid supplies, 4,518 gallons of liquid supplies, 3 “marcianos”, 10 microwave ovens, 1 compressor, 1 hydropump,08 digital precision scales, 2 filtration equipment, 370 labels, 1 vacuum packing machine and other elements used for the production of narcotic drugs were found.
According to intelligence information, this complex had the capacity to produce four tons of cocaine monthly. “With the dismantling of this complex for the production of cocaine, the finances of this residual Organized Armed Group were affected up to USD 3.7 million, money that includes the cost of the illegal complex and the commercialization of the drug in countries of Central America and the U.S.”, reported Rear Admiral José David Espitia Jiménez, Commander of the Joint Task Force Against Drug Trafficking No. 72 Poseidón.
The eight structures, the drugs and the supplies were destroyed in a controlled manner at the place, under strict security regulations and keeping all the measures for the preservation of the environment, under the supervision of the CTI of the Attorney’s Office.
