The decisiveness of the Military Forces against the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo gives no pause. In less than 24 hours, during two operations that took place in the Departments of Bolívar and Chocó, it was possible to arrest seven alleged members of this group, the death in the course of military operations of an individual and the finding of war material, military accessories and communications.
The first operation took place in La Larga sector in the municipality of Riosucio – Chocó Department. Troops of the jungle Battalion n. 54 of the National Army and the River Battalion of the Navy Infantry no.16 of the Colombian navy, arrest in flagrante delicto two individuals, 26 and 35 years old, alleged members of the Pablo José Montalvo Cuitiva substructure of the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, while traveling in a boat on the Atrato River.
In the joint operation, a 22-millimetre shotgun, three units of communication equipment, documents referring to this group and the ship were seized.
Already in the Department of Bolivar, troops of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.13, of the group of Naval Commandos of the Caribbean, of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Bolívar, of the Elite Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) No.1 in coordination with units of the National Police, they reached the Matuya sector in the municipality of María la Baja, to find five members of the Héroes Del Caribe substructure of this organized armed group, who were arrested in flagrante delicto.

The individuals were found by troops with two revolver-type firearms, 28 cartridges of different calibres, cash and a plastic bag containing marijuana.
Meanwhile, in the urban area of María la Baja, the threat of alias 5.5 was neutralized, who died during the course of the military operation. This man allegedly worked as an urban ringleader in the municipality of María la Baja.
