In compliance with the Joint Campaign Plan Ayacucho, within the framework of a coordinated operation conducted by the Colombian Navy and the National Police, an alleged area ringleader of the Valle Substructure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, was arrested in Santiago de Cali - Valle del Cauca.
Units of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.21 of the Colombian Navy and the Special Operations Group of the National Police arrived at a house in the Siloe neighborhood, in Cali, where they arrested alias El Gordo, who was wanted by an arrest warrant issued by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office of Buenaventura.
Alias El Gordo, 24, has belonged to the criminal organization for two years and is one of the alleged perpetrators of the murder of two men in December 2022. This individual is accused of leading the criminal component of the GAO Clan del Golfo in the Bajo Calima rerion, a rural area of the Special District of Buenaventura. He carries out drug trafficking in the area as well as collection of money from extortion and threats against the inhabitants of this area of the Colombian Pacific.
With this arrest, the Military Forces decisively weaken the criminal structure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, contributing to the security of the inhabitants of the rural area of Buenaventura.
The arrested man was put into custody of the Buenaventura Prosecutor's Office, for prosecution for the crime of association to commit crimes.
