Alias Carlos, member of the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, structure 48 Comandos de la Frontera, was arrested while traveling on board a boat with 450 kilograms of coca paste on the Putumayo River, by Colombian Navy units in a joint operation with the National Army.
Intelligence of the Colombian Navy guided the troops of the River Navy Battalion No.30 of the Southern Naval Force and the Jungle Battalion No.49 of the Sixth Division of the National Army, who found the individual with the boat while he was sailing towards the municipality of Puerto Asís in Putumayo and proceeded to intercept him, finding during the inspection that he was transporting 232 packages hidden in the benches, apparently containing drugs.
The individual, with the boat and the illegal merchandise were taken to the municipality of Puerto Leguízamo, where the judicial authority proceeded to carry out the approved preliminary identification test – PIPH - testing positive for 450 kg of coca base paste.
It could be established that this individual, alias Carlos, who belongs to the security group of alias Pitufo, top ringleader of the residual Organized Armed Group Comandos de Frontera in the region, intended to transport the coca base paste to the southeast of the department of Putumayo in order to be processed and subsequently distributed to North America.
It is estimated that this amount, when processed as cocaine hydrochloride, would cost more than 13 million dollars. The arrested individual was brought to the Specialized Prosecutor's Office against Drug Trafficking in Puerto Asís - Putumayo.
