In two coordinated operations conducted by the Colombian Navy, the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, it was possible to arrest three alleged extortionists of the Organized Criminal Gang, GDO, La Local in the Special District of Buenaventura – Valle del Cauca.
The first operation was carried out in the Cinco locality of Buenaventura, where the troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of the Colombian Navy, personnel of the National Police and the Technical Investigation Corps arrived to arrested alias Chacorta or Vacan, alleged ringleader of the Los Espartanos of the GDO La Local, who would have a criminal experience of more than 10 years, and allegedly would be under the criminal command of alias Mayapa, in charge of kidnappings, extortions against different productive groups, homicides, microtrafficking and forced displacement in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th communes of the Special District.
The 34-year-old man had an arrest warrant issued by the Sixth Municipal Criminal Court in Buenaventura for the alleged crime of extortion. Three cell phones were seized during the operation.
Subsequently, in an operation carried out in the Locality 10 of Buenaventura, it was possible to arrest in flagrante two men, 32 and 29, when they intended to receive three million pesos, product of an extortion against a merchant. Four cell phones and a vehicle were found by troops.
It is presumed that the two individuals would belong to the substructure Los Shottas of the Organized Gang La Local, who would be under the command of alias Diego Optra, responsible for kidnappings, extortions, homicides, micro-trafficking and forced displacement, both in Locality 10 of the Special District, and in the villages of Zacarías and Potedó.
The three arrested and the material were put into custody of the authority, for prosecution for the alleged crime of extortion.
