The arrested are accused of collecting money extorted from ranchers, merchants, miners and farmers
In a coordinated operation conducted by units of the Colombian Navy, the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, it was possible to arrest 13 alleged individuals members of the Erlin Pino Duarte Substructure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, who were committing crimes in the municipalities of Barranco de Loba, Hatillo de Loba, San Mart铆n de Loba, Mompox and El Banco, in the departments of Bol铆var and Magdalena.
After an arduous follow-up, the Military Forces made effective 15 search warrants according to the request issued by the Third municipal Court of the city of Cartagena, reporting the arrest by judicial order of 13 people for the crimes of association to commit crimes and extortion.
As part of the operation, it was possible to arrest alias Juli谩n, the alleged ringleader of the criminal structure in Mompox, and alias Santos, the alleged finance ringleader of San Mart铆n de Loba. In the same way, it was possible the arrest of alias Irina, alias Moto Taxi, alias Wilmar, alias Pis iota, alias Negro Guarumo, alias El se帽or de los Caballos, alias Julio, alias Leo, alias Omar, alias Mine and alias Junior. During the searches, firearms were found by troops.
These individuals, alleged members of this criminal organization and who apparently were engaged in trafficking, manufacturing or carrying narcotics, were put into custody of the Prosecutor's Office to continue with their prosecution process.
