In Puerto Jordan the second inter-agency effort of the PAAU took place, which counted on the presence of the Deputy minister of Defense for International Policy and Affairs, Sandra Alzate Cifuentes; the Presidential Counselor for the Equity of Women, Gheidy Gallo Santos; the Governor of Arauca, José Facundo Castillo; brigadier general, Mauricio José Zabala, Commander of the Eighth Division of the Army, among others.
About 2,150 inhabitants of Puerto Jordan benefited from training programs, workshops, talks, calls for entrepreneurs, early childhood care, nutrition consultations, first aid training, families and youth in Action programs, among other services. In addition, thanks to the contribution of companies that complemented this initiative, participants received donations such as toys and clothing kits.
The activity that was carried out in the School for the Promotion of Agriculture of Puerto Jordan, counted on the services and institutional accompaniment of Colombian Civil Defence, the National Learning Service (SENA), the Colombian Institute of Family Wellbeing (ICBF), the Unit for The Repair and Care to the Victims, the Department for Social Prosperity (DPS), the Group of Humanitarian Assistance for the Demobilized (GAHD) and the GAULA (anti-extortion and anti-kidnapping group), with the support of the Eighth Division, the Head of comprehensive operation and Development of the National Army in coordination with the Arauca Police.
The opening of the activity began with the blessing by Father Francisco Javier Perez, later, the Presidential Counsellor for the Equity of Women, Gheidy Gallo Santos, as godmother of the Area's Futuro of Arauca, highlighted the good development of the activity and progress on projects prioritized for the region, which will generate more and better opportunities, thanks to the improvement of infrastructure and the expansion of teams, the medical capabilities of the Health Center; the strengthening of the school of Agriculture with additional classrooms, laboratory of chemistry and physics, and a TICs (Information Technologies) classroom; as well as, the construction of the headquarters of the SENA of Puerto Jordan, among others.
On the other hand, the Deputy Minister of Defense for International Policies and Affairs, Sandra Alzate Cifuentes, said she felt privileged and honored because the Defense Sector is leading initiatives such as the PAAU, which seeks to strengthen institutions and provide different alternatives contributing to improve the services offered for the citizens of our country, especially in territories such as Puerto Jordán, where, thanks to the timely operation and coordination of the Military and Police Forces, it is possible to contribute decisively to the strengthening of security and the culture of legality.
In addition, she highlighted that institutions as relevant as the National Learning Service (SENA) that will soon have its own headquarters in this territory, arrive with different offers to provide options to those who have interest to access to its services to link and actively participate in training processes. She in the same way, highlighted the work of the Colombian Family Wellbeing Institute (ICBF) and the Department for Social Prosperity (DPS), in order to provide support to families in need.
The Governor of Arauca, Facundo Castillo, who in the same way accompanied the installation and development of the activity, recognized the work done during the activity and thanked President Iván Duque for “prioritizing the Municipality of Puerto Jordán with this strategy, which we are sure will improve the quality of life of the community. These operations are what lead us to build a future in the territory.”
The activity was carried out within the framework of the Unified Action Acceleration Plan, a strategy designed by the National Government aimed at strengthening the work of the State through institutional provision in more vulnerable territories. Puerto Jordan is one of the priority areas in which it seeks to provide support for economic, social, environmental and security problems.
