Since 2017, National Army mine clearance specialists have destroyed 61 antipersonnel mines in Samana, in the department of Caldas.
Conducting the manual demining technique, soldiers of the Humanitarian Demining Engineers Battalion No.3 destroyed two antipersonnel mines in the rural area of ​​the municipality of Samaná, Caldas.
The military found the explosive devices near a rural school and three houses on the village of La Gallera, safeguarding the life and physical condition of eight families.
These destructions in the same way favor the farmers who travel by the area daily to sow and harvest the plantations they sell in this municipality of Caldas.
It is noteworthy that, in that dangerous area of ​​7,000 square meters, the military have found seven deadly traps and they need to inspect about two thousand square meters more, in order to rule out the suspicion of antipersonnel mines.
During three years of work in that municipality, the soldiers have destroyed 61 explosive devices and they are firm in the commitment to decontaminate the region.
