Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plan, troops of the Cundinamarca Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) and the No. 2 Elite Gaula of the Military Forces, which came to reinforce the operation against extortion and kidnapping in Bogotá and Cundinamarca, carried out a special intervention in the La Pola penitentiary center, in Guaduas, Cundinamarca
In the coordinated operation with units of the Gaula of the National Police and the INPEC (Penitentiaries national institution), 27 cell phones, 20 SIM cards, 50 cell phone chargers and 28 hearing aids were found by troops, which according to the information collected by intelligence work were being used to make extortion calls against merchants in the center of the country.
According to the investigations, under this modality known as the prison call, people deprived of liberty posed as different criminal structures to put pressure on merchants in Bogotá and municipalities near the city, to obtain extortion payments.
With the dismantling of this extortion call center, the illegal finances of criminal structures that commit crimes in Bogotá and Cundinamarca are being hit.
Lieutenant Colonel Óscar Reyes, commander of the Cundinamarca Military Gaula, invited people who are victims of extortion calls to contact line 147, where an official of the Military Gaula will advise on prevention of crimes and keeping resources safe.
