With these captures and the recent neutralization of alias 'Darío', the structure of the Camilo Cienfuegos Group of the l’Eln, responsible for the terrorist and criminal operations in this area of the country, is significantly destabilized.
The Eighth Division of the National Army in joint, coordinated and interinstitutional operations with the National Navy, National Police and Attorney General of the Nation, gave a heavy blow in the department of Arauca to organized armed groups with the capture of a ringleader and six members of the network of support to terrorism of the group 'Camilo Cien Fuegos' of the Eln that commit crimes in this part of the Orinoquía region.
With search warrants issued by the Prosecutor's Office 117 of the Directorate Against Criminal Organizations - EDA of Arauca and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) for crimes of rebellion, conspiracy to commit crimes and terrorism, troops of the Quiron Task Force, the Infantry Battalion No.52 and the National Police carried out military operations simultaneously in the villages El paraíso, Mata Oscura and La Pesquera in the municipality of Arauquita, which led to the capture of several individuals known as 'Burringo', 'Tocoro' or 'Gordo Grueso', 'Leo', 'Bomba', 'Torrecilla', 'Grillo' and 'Agujita', all under the command of alias 'Darío', who was the main ringleader and died in military operations carried out last week in this region.
Among those captured there is alias 'Burringo', leader of militias who, with 21 years of criminal experience, had perpetrated different terrorist operations against the critical infrastructure of the State. In the same way, he has been in positions such as sniper, explosives expert, extortionist and he has carried out tasks of criminal intelligence to attack on the Security forces in urban and rural areas of the Department.
The other six individuals were in charge of acquiring war material for the criminal structure, conduct criminal intelligence for the execution of terrorist attacks, the collection of money extorted from merchants, cattlemen and transporters, the dispossession of properties of citizens of the region through intimidation and provide logistical support to members of the organization in terms of firearms. Among these individuals there was also alias 'Tocoro' or 'Gordo Grueso', with six years in the criminal organization, brother and trusted man of the aforementioned alias 'Darío', recently neutralized.
