As a result of a major military intervention, four raids were carried out in the municipality of Puerto Gaitán. In another operation, the troops confronted a man of the security of the second ringleader of the GAOr substructure 39 Arcesio Niño, alias Sneider Mendoza.
Within the framework of military operations, in the Ayacucho Campaign Plan, troops of the Special Energy and Road Battalion N. 15, in an operation with the Attorney General's Office and the National Police, in a rural area of Puerto Gaitán, carried out the arrest by judicial order of three people, who apparently would be part of an organized common crime group at the service of the residual Organized Armed Group substructure 39 Arcesio Niño.
According to the investigations, the organization would be responsible for different thefts in Campo Rubiales and with this criminal act would have caused losses to the petroleum sector by more than 4,183 million pesos, which is equivalent to approximately one million dollars.
Those arrested, who were put into custody of the judicial authorities, had with them 1,200 kilos of copper stolen of the State petroleum company Ecopetrol, as well as a traumatic pistol.
In another operation by the troops, in the La Lagunita village of Puerto Gaitán, the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of the department of Meta held an armed confrontation against a security individual of alias Sneider Mendoza, second ringleader of the Finance Group of the GAOr substructure 39 Arcesio Niño, who subsequently fled.
Two revolver-type weapons, 10 cartridges, two communication radios and patches alluding to the FARC EP frente 39 were found by troops at the site, among other elements of analysis for military intelligence.
