With the support of the Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers and civilian personnel of the Air Maintenance Command - CAMAN, who are responsible for carrying out maintenance work with high quality standards, the CAMAN has the Master Production Plan (PMP) with the objective of supplying the repair needs of aeronautical components for the FAC, ranging from major components such as engines, propellers and landing gears to speed indicators, altimeters and fuel operations among others, which are necessary for the correct operation of the aircraft that carry out military operations in all Units of the Colombian Aerospace Force.
Since 2016, the Air Maintenance Command through the PMP is responsible for annually intervening more than 2,000 aeronautical components, which are necessary for the Institution's aircraft, in support of combat missions such as the K-FIR and A-29, UH60 and HUEY II helicopters, training on T-90 and T-27 aircraft, as well as aero-medical missions, personnel and cargo transportation missions conducted by the King B-300 and Hercules C-130 aircraft along the national territory.
During the eight (8) years of operation of the PMP, more than 16,000 aeronautical components have been intervened, which have brought an approximate institutional saving of $245,104,417,608 Colombian pesos. This data is very relevant if we take into account that it is the result of comparing the repair cost of aeronautical elements in other institutions. In the same way, repairs and support to the defense sector are carried out in this Unit, carrying out maintenance to components and aircraft of other institutions such as the Army, Navy and National Police of Colombia, which means more extensive savings at the country level.
The maintenance activities carried out in the Air Maintenance Command have a positive impact not only on the Institution, but on the entire defense sector, it works by increasing the top level of the logistics necessary to keep operating the Nation's aircraft to carry out all the missions for which they are necessary and in this way defend National sovereignty and the purposes of the State.
