Thanks to the ability to make mass aeromedical transfers of patients with COVID-19, and due to the considerable increase of cases in the north of the country, the Colombian Air Force reactivated the protocols to meet this type of missions; the first flight comes from Santa Marta to Bogot谩, with three patients in a critical state.
Due to the hospital situation in the capital city of Magdalena, in the early morning of this Sunday, the military transport Air Command, CATAM, configured two C-295 aircraft as a hospital, where each patient will be transported in intensive care units, prepared to function autonomously during the flight.
In the same way, military medical personnel and crews with extensive experience have contributed to save the lives of hundreds of Colombians in the midst of the pandemic, thanks to humanitarian aeromedical transfers.
The flight is expected after noon in Bogot谩; once on the ground, ambulances of the center of the regulation of emergencies of the governorate of Cundinamarca, DCRUE, will transfer patients to hospitals of near municipalities, where they will receive treatment.
