An elderly man who was at risk of being swept away by the sudden rising of the Guape River in the municipality of Lejan铆as, Meta, was rescued in the middle of the night by a UH60 Blackhawk helicopter of the Air Combat Command No. 2 of the Colombian Aerospace Force.
The man, who was trapped with his only companion, a dog that had lost sight of him in the middle of the waters on a cliff, kept a flashlight in his hand and a cell phone, elements with which he tried to stay afloat among the waters, notifying the local authorities of his location.
After the timely and quick reaction of the military personnel and after making the coordinates with the National Personnel Recovery Center, CENRP, the Departmental Risk Management Office, the Mayor's Office of the municipality, the Fire Department and the Police, the elderly man was rescue by means of an extraction crane, which led to getting them to safety in the municipal seat.
No matter the time or the place, the members of the Colombian Aerospace Force use all their aircraft resources, resources, training and experience to save the lives of those who need it most.
