Chocó. Nine dredgers and two backhoes were destroyed under controlled conditions, in a joint, coordinated and interagency operation conducted by the Colombian Air Force, the Army and the National Police, with the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) and the Prosecutor's Office against illegal mining in the area of Río Quito, department of Chocó, striking the finances of the "Carreteras" front of the gang “Clan del Golfo".
This operation was carried out with troops of the Illegal Mining Brigade, in an air assault mission with a UH-60 helicopter and the Air Combat No. 5 crews to counteract the activities of this criminal practice that causes irreversible environmental damages.
The machinery used in the illegal exploitation of mining deposits in this area was put out of action under all safety protocols minimizing the impact on the natural resources.
