The reptiles had been found by troops of the riverine Navy Infantry Battalion No.31 of the Colombian Navy, in the village El Barro, municipality of Cartagena del Chairá, in Caquetá.
The Omega Joint Task Force in its commitment to the preservation of the environment and natural resources, in coordination with the Corporation for Sustainable Development of the Southern Amazon (Corpoamazonia), released 14 babillas (Cayman crocodilus fuscus) in the Caguán River, in the municipality of Cartagena del Chairá, where they return to their natural habitat, with the necessary conditions for their growth, survival and development.
Hunting of these animals represents damage to wildlife and its ecosystems, causing imbalances and putting this species at risk of extinction.
