The Edwin Roman Velasquez Valle substructure, to which this criminal would belong, is responsible for carrying out several terrorist operations against civilians in the north of Antioquia.
In military operations, troops of the National Army, in coordination with the National Police, and in assistance to early alerts 029 of 2018 and 004 of 2020, in the rural area of the municipality of Ituango, Antioquia, captured alias Yovani, who according to what the authorities reported is a recognized criminal with a high criminal record. He would belong to the substructure Edwin Roman Velasquez Valle, of the Organized Armed Group (GAO) Clan del Golfo.
The military operation was carried out thanks to information provided by the information networks, which reported the presence and location of this dangerous individual in the area. Thus, immediately the troops arrived to the place this person was apprehended.
Alias Yovani, a 32-year-old man, would have had a criminal experience of 13 years in the organization of the extinct AUC up to the current GAO Clan del Golfo. He is accused of engaging in harassment of military units in the municipality of Santa Rita; likewise, he participated in two homicides in rural area of Ituango in 2020, and ordered to carry out criminal intelligence activities and attacks against the Military Forces.
The captured man is linked to a judicial process by the Investigative Unit against Organized Crime of the Attorney General Office, and a custodial measure was ordered for the crimes of aggravated conspiracy and the manufacture, carrying and trafficking of firearms.
These decisive operations achieve a strategic impact that hits the ringleadership and planning capacity of the targeted criminal armed component, as well as neutralize future terrorist operations.
