The Colombian Navy, within the framework of different comprehensive maritime security and control operations, intercepted three ships, in which 2,408 kilograms of narcotics were being transported across the Pacific Ocean to Central America.
In the first case, three individuals who were crewing one of the unnamed boats tried to flee when they noticed the existence of the Coast Guard units, without any success. During the inspection by military personnel, 35 black sacks, 25 pistol cartridges and 540 gallons of fuel were found by troops.
The crew members and the material were taken to the dock of the Coast Guard Station of Tumaco, where the SIJIN (JUDICIAL POLICE) personnel proceeded to conduct the Approved Preliminary Identification Test – PIPH, to the substances confirming positive results for 1,082 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
The interception of the second ship was supported by an aircraft of the Air Combat Command No.7 of the Colombian Aerospace Force. That boat was manned by three individuals and was intercepted when it was transporting 39 sacks of different colors, whose characteristics and smell would resemble marijuana.
The boat, the individuals and the material were taken to the facilities of the Colombian Navy in the municipality of Tumaco – Nariño, where the judicial authorities carried out the respective tests, determining that the packages contained 964 kilograms of marijuana.
The third boat, found in the North Pacific, was manned by two individuals who did not have the required documentation.
During the interception operation, there was an aircraft of the Air Combat Command No.7. the boat was taken to the Navy facilities in the District of Buenaventura in the department of Valle del Cauca, where it was immobilized for violation of merchant marine regulations.
During the inspection, it was found that its structure had modifications in the hull, so the military personnel together with the judicial authorities inspected deeply and found 362 packages distributed from bow to stern, which tested positive for 362 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
The eight crew members of the three boats were put into custody of the authorities for prosecution for the crime of trafficking, manufacturing and carrying narcotics.
With this decisive blow, the Naval Institution prevented the marketing of about four million doses of cocaine and marijuana and also that more than 54 million dollars reach the finances of organizations serving drug trafficking.
