Preventing the fire from reaching cane plantations, banana plantations, livestock and houses in the sector, about 50 men of the Ninth Brigade, Official Firefighters, Civil Defense and members of the La Gabriela - Tama P谩ez indigenous community, worked together to extinguish forest fires.
Day and night, the institutions joined forces and tools to control the flames. The work intensified with the aim of extinguishing the fire that consumed 155 hectares for four days.
Through direct control and fire control techniques, with tools such as extinguishing flames, spades, shovels, rakes and machetes, the symbiosis of institutions did not stop, in a work to prevent the conflagration from continuing to harm the flora and fauna of the surrounding area of the indigenous reserve La Gabriela.
The long activity concluded when it was possible to confirm that the emergency had been overcome, however, the alert is maintained and a call is made to the community to report any fire outbreak on time due to the high temperatures reported in the capital city in the department of Huila.
