Air Combat Command No. 4, CACOM 4, in Melgar, Tolima, hosted the XII Meeting of Brigades Safety Colibrí 2024, a key event in the instruction of emergency and rescue skills in the region, framed in the commemoration of the 105 years of the Colombian Aerospace Force.
Nine civil and military institutions, including the Government of Tolima, firefighters, Civil Defense, emergency scout teams, the company Hocol and the Security Office of the military operation of CACOM 4, joined in this collaborative training activity to strengthen their resources and improve their response to critical situations.
During the meeting, the attendees participated in instructional modules that included instruction in search and rescue, forest fire control and pre-hospital care, essential skills for field work. They in the same way received training in rope descent and abseiling techniques, as well as in the use of firefighting equipment, fundamental knowledge to face high-risk incidents.
One of the best moments was the abseiling training from a helicopter, led by the Colombian Aerospace Force, which showed the importance of inter-institutional coordination in rescue air maneuvers, where precision and teamwork are crucial for the success of missions.
In this way, the Safety Colibrí 2024 not only promoted technical skills, but in the same way strengthened the cooperation ties by the participating institutions. The CACOM 4 extends an invitation for the next meeting, maintaining its commitment to the safety and preparedness of the rescue teams in the country.
