Responding to the call by the Indigenous Governor of the people of Amparrad贸 Alto, municipality of Frontino, Antioquia, an adult over 75 years of age, with severe respiratory problems, was urgently taken by the Colombian Air Force to a higher level hospital.
Thanks to the coordination carried out with the National Personnel Recovery Center, CENRP, a crew of the UH-60 Angel helicopter belonging to the Air Combat Command No. 5, reacted immediately by proceeding to a sector near the Turriquitado Alto indigenous village of the Chagerad贸 Reserve, Murind贸, where the patient, who had mobility difficulties, was waiting.
The inhabitants of the reservation who helped transport him to the extraction site said that the elderly man had difficulty breathing, fatigue, rapid breathing and swelling in his legs; that is why, the Air Force rescue personnel had to carry him to safety in the helicopter. Once on board, he was stabilized by the medical team, who was in charge of monitoring his vital signs and providing him with the necessary care.
The patient was handed to the San Vicente Fundaci贸n Hospital in Rionegro, where he will receive the specialized care he was looking for.
The Colombian Air Force considers humanitarian assistance to indigenous communities as a priority mission. The efforts of the Institution are conceived for the well-being of the inhabitants, overcoming the challenges posed by the difficult geographical and meteorological conditions of the region.
