Actions to strengthen immigration control at the triple border of the department of Guainía will be implemented from now on with special plans for their control and proceedings.
This was announced by Defense Minister Diego Molano Aponte after a Security Council held in the capital city of the department of Guainía.
“In coordination with Cotecmar, the migration project will be reviewed and the migration control exercise on the border with Amanaven will be coordinated with the Military Forces,” minister said.
He in the same way spoke about the Migrant Protection Statute and said that anyone who crosses the border will access State services, but if they commit crimes they will be prosecuted in Colombia.
In the issue of environmental protection, the minister included the Artemisa Strategy in the Pinawai Natural Park and will be executing operations against pollution by illegal extraction of minerals on the Guainía River.
“More than 7 tons of coltan and more than 35 kilos of mercury have been found by our Military Forces. [That exploitation] is a criminal operation that is in the process of being prosecuted; that is why the priority of the Artemisa campaign,” he said.
The minister in the same way acknowledged the result of joint work on homicide: “Today Guainía is the only department that has zero homicides this year. It is a coordinated work of the Military Forces with the authorities and the indigenous communities,” he said.
The Minister in the same way referred to the commitment to strengthen the San Felipe military base and the realization of two Comprehensive Action activities in areas or lots of invasion of the urban area of Inírida.
During the visit, Minister Molano traveled along the Inirida River to the La Ceiba people, where indigenous people of the Curripacos, Puinave and Tucanos ethnic groups introduced a project with meliponas (stingless bees) and the production of honey they have for commercialization.
This is the 147th Security Council that Minister Molano has conducted throughout the national territory.
