The war material belong to organized armed groups that commit crimes in the south of the department.
Through information provided by a human source to the Infantry Battalion No. 17 'General Jos茅 Domingo Caicedo', a unit attached to the Sixth Brigade of the National Army, it was learned about the discovery of an illegal hideout of explosives belonging to organized armed groups. A military operation was carried out in the vicinity of the village of La Cimarrona, in Las Hermosas, municipality of Chaparral, in the department of Tolima.
When searching the terrain, several explosive devices were found in a specific sector and troops found 26 non-conventional grenades for 60-millimeter mortar, eight improvised explosive devices such as an antipersonnel mine, five (AEI) type Claymore mine, and Two 60 mm mortar shells of industrial manufacture which were left under custody.
The troops of this Battalion with the support of the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) - Chaparral and the Fire and Explosives Group of Ibagu茅 carried out the controlled detonation in the area, in order to guarantee security at this point where people of the south of Tolima travel.
