Approximately, 32 thousand gallons of stolen petroleum that would be used for the production of illicit substances were found by troops of the National Army inside these structures.
In compliance with the “Heroes de la libertad” Campaign Plan, troops attached to the Vulcano Task Force, have achieved in recent days in rural areas of the municipalities of Tibú and El Carmen, in the department of Norte de Santander, the discovery of an illegal precursors refinery and a laboratory for the production of illicit substances, belonging to the Organized Armed Group, GAO – Eln took place.
The first military operation was carried out in a rural area of the Caño Victoria village, in the municipality of Tibú, where troops of the Ground Operations Battalion No.9 found an illegal refinery, equipped with two rudimentary-made distillers (Martians), a swimming pool for stolen petroleum storage, which contained approximately 32 thousand gallons of petroleum and six plastic barrels.
Parallel to these operations, military personnel of the Ground Operations Battalion No.10, found in a rural area of the Vega de Aguilar village, in the municipality El Carmen, a laboratory for the production of coca base paste, in which members The GAO-Eln company “Francisco Bossio” company stored 55 gallons of coca base in process, three metal barrels with petroleum and four plastic tanks.
This year, the Vulcano Task Force has managed to dismantle 10 illegal precursor refineries and 40 laboratories for the production of coca base paste in El Catatumbo region.
