Freeing the suspected areas of contamination of explosive devices and facilitating the restitution of the right to use the lands, is the goal of the Heroes Bicentenary of the Ninth Brigade through the battalions of Artillery No.9 'Tenerife' and Humanitarian Demining No.5.
Personnel trained for humanitarian demining have concentrated operations in the village Turkestan in the municipality of Baraya, in the north of Huila; there, they found an antipersonnel mine.
The deadly trap used in the past by illegal structures, aimed to cause physical and psychological damages to the Military Forces. This is an enemy that does not differentiate victims and besides remains over time, hence the threat posed by the presence of this type of weapons for the peasant population.
The units put into practice the security protocols for the controlled destruction of the mine, contributing to the wellbeing and safety of the inhabitants and animals of the countryside.
