In a joint effort conducted by the Colombian Navy, the Government of the Department of La Guajira, the World Food Program - WFP, Colombian National Army, the National Police, the Colombian Red Cross, the Civil Defense and the Colombian Institute of Family Wellbeing - ICBF, among other organizations, the aid arrived at the village of Puerto Estrella, in Alta Guajira, to benefit the families hit by the wave caused by rains.
For two days, representatives of these institutions carried out different activities in support of the communities of Puerto Estrella and its surrounding areas, seeking to mitigate the damage caused by the second rainy season that the country is experiencing.
More than 26 tons of humanitarian aid and about 2,000 gallons of fuel were distributed to the people.
The interdisciplinary team on board the ARC ship Golfo de Urabá traveled to the village of Taroa in this same region of the country, where it is expected to distribute another 28 tons of humanitarian aid provided by the departmental government and the World Food Program - PAM.
