Thanks to information provided by military intelligence, troops of the National Army found the largest finding of marijuana that so far has been made in the Amazon region. The cargo was transported in two boats by waters of the Yar铆 River, bordering the Departments of Caquet谩 and Amazonas.
In joint, coordinated and inter-agency Military Operations, troops of the Twenty-Sixth Brigade, Brigade Against Drug Trafficking, the Naval Force of the south of the Colombian Navy, the Air Command combat no.6, of the Colombian Air Force; the National Police and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps), of the Attorney General's Office, found about three and a half tons of marijuana belonging to the First EStructure, of the residual organized armed group, Gao, Carolina Ram铆rez, which commits crimes in the Colombian Amazon.
After several days of follow-up by troops of Infantry Battalion No.50 and night infiltration maneuvers by the Anti-Drug Trafficking Brigade, the individuals in two boats sailing in the waters of the Yar铆 River, carrying a cargo of hallucinogenic substances, were surprised. The military operation resulted in the finding of 75 bags with 3 538 kilograms of marijuana.
The individuals being surprised by soldiers of the National Army decided to jump into the river to get carried away by the current and flee the scene of the events. The suspects were pursued by air and land, but went into the jungle by the eastern part of the Araracuara, in the municipality of Solano, Caquet谩, at the mouth of the Yar铆 River.
According to military intelligence, the illegal merchandise belonged to the First structure Carolina Ram铆rez, and came from the Department of Cauca. The criminals intended to take it to the neighboring country of Brazil, where it would be marketed in the modality of microtrafficking.
The total shipment of creepy marijuana is estimated to cost approximately 6,300 million Colombian pesos. This important result reduces the logistical strengthening of this illegal structure.
It is noteworthy that, during 2021, this is the fourth shipment found by troops of the Twenty-Sixth Brigade, which in its fight against drug trafficking has found 5,633 kilograms of hallucinogenic substances on the limits of the border with Brazil, which hits the finances of the structure Primera Carolina Ram铆rez.
The substance was put into custody of the authorities. In the place there were no captures.
