The hideout was found in the rural area of the municipality of Chibolo.
In military control operations, troops of the Second Brigade of the National Army, in coordination with the Attorney General's Office, found an illegal hideout with war material, in the sector El Silencio, municipality of Chibolo, in the department of Magdalena; it would belong to the extinct United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia, AUC.
The finding was possible thanks to the information that members of the Civic Participation Network gave to the Mechanized Infantry Battalion No. 5 'General José María Córdoba' and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Prosecutor's Office, who immediately launched a military operation where they found the hideout buried in rural area of this municipality. Inside they found 59 M-26 fragmentation grenades, they proceeded to dismantle it. It is presumed they would be sold to the GAO Clan del Golfo.
The elements were put into custody of the prosecutor of Chibolo, in the department of Magdalena.
With these operations, the First Division of the National Army continues to combat all criminal acts to contribute to citizen security and reduce crimes and trafficking of war material and explosives, as well as preventing possible terrorist operations in this region of Colombia.
