In the framework of the Plan Bicentenario Héroes de la Libertad (Bicentenary Plan Heroes Of Freedom), in a joint operation conducted by the National Army, the Colombian Air Force and the Colombian Navy, in coordination with the National Police and Inter-Institutional with the Attorney General's Office, it was possible to locate four mining production units.
This mission was carried out in the village of San Isídro, municipality of Río Quito. During the mission, an excavator and an engine –valued at, approximately, USD $100,000–, were destructed. They belonged to the Substructura Héroes de Jesús Carretera of the Organized Armed Group (GAO) Clan del Golfo.
This result directly harms the finances of the GAO Clan del Golfo and also achieves a reduction of the environmental impact on four hectares of land, with a recovery cost due to environmental damage estimated at USD $160,00, caused by the illegal exploitation of mining deposits.
In this way, the Air Institution continues supporting military operations, harming the illegal activities that serve as a source of funding for the different organized armed groups that commit crimes in the department of Chocó. It also contributes to the conservation of the nation natural and strategic resources.
