Among those captured there is a ringleader of the organization.
The forcefulness of the Military Forces against the Organized Armed Groups, in Buenaventura, does not give truce. Specialized units of the National Army, the Colombian Navy, the National Police and the Technical Investigation Corps, captured in flagrante delicto eight alleged members of the Organized Criminal Group (GDO) Banda Local, who had abundant war material and communication equipment.
The events were reported in the communes five and eight of Buenaventura, where the military arrived with raid order. Seven buildings in the Santa Fe and Pampalinda neighborhoods were raided by the authorities where they could find the individuals and the material.
The men caught tried to flee, but due to the rapid reaction of the military, their capture was possible. Among those captured is alias John Grasa, alleged ringleader of this Organized Gang, in charge of coordinating thefts at sea, extortion, selective killings, recruitment of minors and drug trafficking activities.
Inside the buildings, three rifles of different calibers, a 40-millimeter grenade launcher, a sub-machine rifle, a 22-caliber shotgun, three pistols, a 38-caliber revolver, nine grenades, 565 cartridges, 11 magazines, two communication radios and seven cell phones were seized by troops.
The individuals and the material were taken to the SIJIN (Judicial Police) facilities, where were put into custody of the Attorney General's Office. Those caught must respond for the crimes of illegal carrying of weapons.
This important operation was carried out within the framework of the comprehensive discourse strategy ordered by the National Government, which seeks to weaken the different Organized Armed Groups that commit crimes in the area. In the same way, citizens are invited to provide information on lines 123 and 147 that led to find the whereabouts of the members of these groups.
