After several hours of pursuit of a boat, it was possible to prevent the distribution and consumption of approximately 1,400,000 doses of cocaine in Central America and North America.
The Colombian Navy's operation against drug trafficking in the Colombian Pacific continues relentless. In the course of a maritime interdiction operation in the department of Chocó, Coast Guard units intercept a ship loaded with more than half a ton of cocaine. The drug that exceeds USD$ 19 million in the illegal international market belonged to the Organized Armed Group, GAO Clan del Golfo.
Naval intelligence information and the permanent deployment of the Rapid Reaction Units of the Coast Guard Station of Bahía Solano, led to the detection of a boat named Reef manned by two individuals, at the moment when they were moving at high speeds in waters of the North Pacific bound for Central America. During the maritime pursuit, under international cooperation agreements, a U.S. Southern Command aircraft was driven to support Coast Guard Units during the operation.
Coordinated work and interoperability conducted by the two countries eventually intercepted the boat after several hours of pursuit. During the inspection, were found by troops communication equipment, 130 gallons of gasoline and 28 packages with 479 rectangular packages, similar to those used for criminal organizations for the trafficking of illicit drugs.
The boat, the cargo and the two Colombians were transported to the municipality of Bahía Solano, Department of Chocó, where officials of the Sijin of the National Police, conducted the tests of rigor that left positive result for 565 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
The men aged 44 and 47 were arrested and brought before the authorities for the crime of trafficking, manufacturing or carrying narcotics.
