The shipment, which would cost more than 18,000 million COP approximately, represents one of the largest seizures of this type of narcotics on the roads of the department.
In a powerful blow dealt to criminal structures, the Ninth Brigade of Colombian National Army, through the Magdalena Battalion, managed to find more than a ton of cocaine hydrochloride in an operation carried out in the village of El Mármol, municipality of Isnos, south of Huila.
Thanks to information provided by the Citizen Participation Network, military units intercepted two tractor-trailers coming from Cauca, where the drug traffickers had set up sophisticated hidden compartments in the bottom of the trailers.
In these illegal hiding places, 907 packages weighing 1,020.3 kilograms of cocaine were found by troops, ready to be transported to the country's ports and subsequently sent to the international market.
According to the investigative work, the value would increase when it is placed in Colombian ports where it is estimated to have a cost of $45,350,000,000, COP and if it is taken abroad, its price would triple, reaching a cost per kilo of $80,000,000 COP.
This finding represents a serious blow to the finances of criminal organizations specializing in drug trafficking and prevents millions of doses of this substance from reaching national and international streets.
Two men were arrested in flagrante delicto and put into custody of the authorities for the crimes of trafficking, manufacturing or carrying narcotics. In addition to the illicit substance, vehicles were immobilized and 15 million pesos in cash were found by troops, an operation that counted on the participation of the Police Sijin, Huila.
