As part of the interception tasks carried out by Colombian National Army troops, a laboratory for the production of coca base paste was dismantled in the village of Lagos del Dorado, municipality of Miraflores, Guaviare.
During the operation, troops of the Twenty-Second Rainforest Brigade found and dismantled an improvised wooden structure, where chopped coca leaf was found ready to be processed, as well as solid and liquid precursors used in the production of the drug.
The materials found included cement, lime, ammonium sulfate, gasoline, diesel and a manual press.
With the dismantling of this laboratory, it was possible to prevent the production of approximately 6 kilos of cocaine per month, which would represent income from drug trafficking for more than 18 million pesos. In terms of the international market, it is estimated that this amount could be transformed into more than 60,000 doses, so this operation significantly disturbs the finances of the criminal organizations that commit crimes in the region.
It should be noted that, in addition to the economic impact, this military operation contributes to mitigating environmental damage in the Amazon, preventing the destruction of the flora and fauna of one of the most important ecosystems on the planet.
