Led by the Deputy Minister for the Social and Business Group of Defense, GSED, and Wellbeing, Carlos Andrés Ríos Puerta, the Business Meeting conducted by the GSED and local entrepreneurs was held with great success, at the Valle del Pacífico Events Center, in the city of Cali, Valle del Cauca.
The event focused on highlighting the operation of the defense industry in the economic reactivation and the progress of the regions through business, social and technological initiatives as they boost the economy of Valle del Cauca, Cauca and Nariño; identifying in turn possible alliances to join efforts with projects that can be useful both to increase the productivity of the GSED, and to strengthen the productive sectors of the country.
The GSED has become one of the country's largest business groups, managing an annual budget of close to $11 billion pesos, equivalent to 0.9 percent of GDP in Colombia in 2021, the Ministry of Defence, boosts innovation and business competitiveness, being a strategic asset on the road to economic recovery and independence of the country.
“Today we are in Cali, supporting the economic reactivation, we have 18 companies at the service of all Colombians to support small and large entrepreneurs, betting on economic development, offering 14.4 billion pesos of investment,” emphasized Vice Minister Ríos.
The event was attended by more than 90 entrepreneurs, covering the aeronautical, sugar, educational and technological sectors. Entrepreneurs such as Henry Rey, director of the City 4.0 Technological Development Center of the Gobernación del Valle; Néstor Mauricio Villegas, director of Physical Security of Ingenio Providencia (sugar producers); and José Fernando Gil, director of the Department of Public Finance of Valle del Cauca, were at the event.
For his part, the director of the Wellness and Health of the Ministry of Defence, Marcela Garcia, highlighted the benefits provided by the institution for veterans and members of the Military Forces; in turn she presented the conventions for active members of the military Forces and officials of the Ministry of National Defense. She in the same way highlighted the operation that has been conducting with the employability route promoted by the Ministry, throughout the national territory.
The institutions of the GSED, Indumil, Codaltec, Cotecmar, CIAC, Satena, Logistics Agency of the Colombian Military Forces and Civil Defense, made a commercial sample and the presentation of their products and services. All the managers agree that they have a broad portfolio of services that would help the economic reactivation of Valle del Cauca and its nearby departments.
At the end of the activity both the GSED companies and the entrepreneurs of Valle del Cauca, conducted an exchange of information on the interests oriented to the generation of commitments that would positively impact different sectors of the national economy. The event concluded with the identification of possible alliances that would generate bilateral benefits to boost the economy of the region, betting on joint work conducted by private entrepreneurs and the public sector, supporting the national economic reactivation.
