In the rural area of the village of El Bordo, in the municipality of Patía, in Cauca, eight members of the residual organized armed group Jaime Martínez structure of the Central General Staff of the FARC, surrendered to the troops of the High Mountain Battalion Nº 4 of Colombian National Army.
These individuals, members of the residual organized armed group Jaime Martínez, which commits crimes in this area of the department, were supporting the Franco Benavides structure, in Nariño, and had been sent to continue carrying out terrorist operations in the municipality of Suárez, Cauca.
In the group there are eight individuals including two minors (15 and 17 years old) who had been forcibly recruited by this armed group.
It should be mentioned that this structure is accused of attacking the Military Forces and the inhabitants in the events reported during the last few days, such as the attacks in the village Robles, in Valle del Cauca, and the attacks with explosives on the Police in Popayán, Morales, Suárez, Cajibío and the attack on the Military Base in La Salvajina, in Cauca.
As a result of the military operations in the area and the work of the troops, the members of this structure decided to surrender to justice. The minors were put into custody of the Colombian Family Wellbeing Institute for the restoration of their rights.
