Thanks to the monitoring carried out by the authorities in the municipality of San Jacinto del Cauca, 19 machines were identified that were destroyed in a controlled conditions.
In the department of Bol铆var was carried out a joint operation conducted by the Colombian Air Force, the National Army, the Navy of Colombia and the National Police, during which 19 machines were destroyed; these machines were used for illegal mining in the area, which is part of the economic system of criminals that hits the inhabitants, the water sources and the environment of San Jacinto del Cauca, managing to prevent the illegal exploitation of mineral deposits, that's in the same way a part of the finance of illegal armed groups.
For the operation the Air Force had different surveillance aircraft, which accompanied the controlled destruction of the machinery. In the same way, prior to the destruction of these elements, surface troops carried out the arrest of 18 people who operated these machines, who, through illegal exploitation activities, threaten natural resources, especially the rivers surrounding the municipality, which have been greatly harmed by the indiscriminate use of mercury.
