With this operation, the commercialization and distribution of more than 352 thousand doses in the illegal market was prevented.
In 2022, the Colombian Navy has seized more than 72 tons of cocaine hydrochloride, of which 33.8 were seized in the course of operations carried out by the Caribbean Naval Force in the region.
In development of a joint operation conducted by the Colombian Navy and the National Army, the seizure of more than 140 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride that were transported by two Colombian individuals aboard a Go Fast boat in the Gulf of Urabá was achieved.
This important result occurred when the Urabá Coast Guard Station, through the Integrated Maritime and River Control, Traffic and Surveillance System, detected a suspicious ship that would have sailed from a sector known as El Uno and apparently would be transporting packages with narcotic substances.
Immediately, troops of the National Army made a land closure near Punta Caimán in the municipality of Turbo, Antioquia, while the Coast Guard crews began the pursuit and subsequent interdiction of the boat. Upon noticing the presence of the authorities, the individuals who crewed the boat threw six sacks into the sea.
The material and the men were transported to the facilities of the coast Guard Station of Urabá, where in coordination with the National Police the Identification test left a positive result for 141 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride and 993 grams of marijuana. In addition, communications equipment and 97 gallons of gasoline were seized in the operation.
With this seizure, the Caribbean Naval Force prevented approximately five million dollars from entering the finances of the GAO Clan del Golfo, which commits crimes in this region of the country, preventing more than 352 thousand doses of narcotics from being marketed on the streets of the world. According to intelligence information, the drug would have as its final destination Central America. The seized material and the individuals were put into custody of the competent authorities to initiate their judicial process.
The Colombian Navy has seized 33.8 tons of cocaine hydrochloride in the Colombian Caribbean so far in 2022, dealing a blow of more than 1,139 million dollars to this Organized Armed Group.
